The National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers ( NANPF), has expressed its gratitude to God for protecting the life of Abia Warriors’ goalkeeper, Charles Tambe, who was attacked by criminals Friday in Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to reports the former goal tender of 3SC of Ibadan, was attacked while he was jogging to keep fit by criminals who attacked him and collected his wristwatch and phone and also shot him on his hand. Tambe who was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, is reported to be doing well.
In a statement released by the Communications department of NANPF, the union was glad that the player who has been responding to treatment, is also in a stable condition. The foremost players’ union equally commended the management of the Abia Warriors for its timely response and support for the player.
” We must commend the management of Abia Warriors for their moral and financial support. Let’s also commend NANPF’s South West Coordinator, Mutiu Adepoju for his astute leadership, as he equally galvanized Oyo State Chairman of NANPF, Dimeji Lawal, as well as, members of the technical crew of 3SC, who have also supported the player, morally and financially, too.
” NANPF, is indeed, grateful to God that we didn’t not lose another player at this period of global turbulence and pandemic. We pray that God will continue to guard and protect us all against dangers,” it added.
