Uyi Akpata, President of the Nigerian Cricket Federation, has lauded the remarkable progress witnessed in cricket at the ongoing African Games in Ghana.
Akpata expressed satisfaction with the overall standard of cricket displayed, emphasizing the positive aspects such as the quality of facilities and the skillful performances by the athletes. He particularly highlighted the rapid growth of the sport, contrasting the current state with that of eight years ago.
“Excellent. Those who have been following cricket, know that eight years ago, you wouldn’t have seen anything nearly standard. It’s just, you know, outstanding. Really, outstanding,” Akpata remarked.
He praised the level of play, citing good shot-making and the emergence of talented players as indicators of the sport’s development. Akpata’s remarks underscore the significant strides made in Nigerian cricket, reflecting a promising future for the sport in the country.
