The Nigeria Cricket Federation is pleased to inform the general public that 24 U-19 Male Players have been invited to camp in preparation for ICC Division 1 Qualifier Tournament in Namibia later this year.
We would recall in August 2018, in Potchefstroom, South Africa, Nigeria against all odds were crowned champions after defeating Ghana, Rwanda, Mozambique, Tanzania and Sierra Leone to lift the ICC U-19 Africa Division 2 Trophy.
Among players invited to camp is captain, Sylvester Okpe, Bating centurion in the final against Sierra Leone Elijah Olaleye, bowling sensation of the tournament Peter Aho, surprise bating maestro Samuel Mba, orthodox but very effective left handed batsman, Segun Ogundipe and finally the young revelation in the National Sports Festival from Edo State, Miracle Akhigbe.
The first phase of open camp is scheduled to take place in Abuja from 6th to 14th January 2018.
A five (5) match series will be played over the period of 7 days. The format of the games will be ODI-50 overs with players expected to be shuffled around different teams in order to provide enough opportunity in a quest to prove their mettle and pick a spot in the final 14 players that will represent the Country.
