Paul Maduakor, the president of the Nigerian Amputee Football Federation, has issued an appeal for funds from potential sponsors to support the National Amputee Football team’s participation in the upcoming Africa Amputee Nations Cup in Cairo.
Scheduled to take place from the 19th to the 28th of next month, the competition holds significance as it also serves as the qualifier for the World Cup.
Teams that advance to the semifinals will earn the opportunity to represent the continent on the global stage.
Maduakor emphasized the team’s readiness and determination to compete for the trophy but stressed the critical need for financial support to realize their goals.
“The reality on the ground is that we need funds to be able to facilitate all our ideas for the campaign.
We’ve been able to assemble a very formidable team that will make Nigeria proud.
What is left for us is the funding for us to be able to have an even participation in Cairo,” Maduakor stated.
He outlined the specific areas where funding is required, including the participation fee, airfare, and logistics in and around Cairo.
Maduakor emphasized the importance of financial support to ensure the team’s successful participation in the tournament.
The appeal comes as the Nigerian Amputee Football team prepares to showcase their talent and compete against top teams from across the continent.
Maduakor expressed confidence in the team’s ability to excel but highlighted the need for support from sponsors to make their campaign a reality.
As the team gears up for the Africa Amputee Nations Cup, Maduakor’s plea underscores the vital role of sponsorship in enabling the participation of Nigerian athletes in international competitions and representing the nation with pride on the global stage.
