In a heartening show of support, Dr. Modupe Enitan Erele, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Hungary, paid a visit to the athletes of Team Nigeria at the Park Inn Hotel Radisson.
The visit, aimed at boosting the athletes’ spirits, saw the Ambassador conveying a special message from President Bola Tinubu, acknowledging and lauding their tireless efforts in bringing joy to both Nigerians at home and abroad.
Addressing the eager athletes, Dr. Erele shared, “I bring to you a warm message from the Presidency, and to inform you that your efforts are being appreciated. I can see that all of you came to Budapest well-prepared for this championship.
First of all, this is a game for everyone to enjoy themselves. People have their on and off days.” Drawing from her own experience as an observer, she added, “I watched the women’s long jump event, and I was jumping alongside Ese Brume.
I was praying for her to get the medal. She did very well. For those of you who have not started your event, feel relaxed. There will be victories for us to take home.”
The Ambassador’s encouraging words resonated deeply with the athletes, fostering a sense of unity and determination within the team.
Notably, Dr. Erele also disclosed that the embassy would play host to the athletes and their officials until the culmination of the championships on August 27.
This gesture of hospitality further underscored the strong bond between the Nigerian embassy and the athletes striving for excellence on the international stage.
As the championships unfold, Team Nigeria finds itself bolstered not only by their rigorous training and skills but also by the unwavering support of their country and leadership.
The Ambassador’s visit served as a poignant reminder that their efforts transcend the realm of competition, uplifting the spirits of fellow citizens and carrying the hopes of a nation.
With this renewed sense of purpose, Team Nigeria marches forward with determination, fueled by the knowledge that they carry the aspirations of their people with them on the journey to victory.
