Humble Nelson, a former NWFL player has lauded the development of the league in recent times revealing that the Nigeria Women’s League stands tall in Africa as he enjoins prompt payment of salaries to the players.

Having played professionally both in Nigeria and outside the country, Nelson’s career took a hit due to incessant injuries forcing her to reconsider other paths in football hence settling for coaching after her return into the country.
The attacking midfielder who can also play upfront played in the NWFL, outside the country in Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Egypt before calling it quits on professional football.
“The Nigeria women’s league is the best league in Africa in terms of the female league because I played outside the country and it’s not the same level with ours here in Nigeria”, she explained.
“Nigeria is really trying in female football development compared to where I have played and this present league at the stage it is now is more better than the one I played in”.
‘We can be better anyway but first they must look into the welfare of the girls, don’t owe them because some of them have nothing else doing except football”.
“So when someone is playing football and a month, two, three months you are still owing them, it discourages them, on time salary payment will motivate them to do more,” she advocated.
On her advice to young upcoming female players’ – “I will advise upcoming players to have discipline, that’s the most important in football alongside determination, with that two, they can move a mountain”.
