Nigeria Volleyball President Nimrod Insists Coaching Development Is Key to Global Success

President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Musa Nimrod, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming the nation’s beach volleyball coaching structure into one that meets world-class standards.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the intensive five-day Olympic Solidarity Beach Volleyball Coaching Course, Nimrod urged Nigerian coaches to apply the knowledge gained and approach their profession with renewed discipline, ambition and responsibility.

The course, jointly organised by the NVBF, the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), brought together coaches from across the country in an effort to strengthen technical capacity and improve Nigeria’s competitiveness in continental and global championships. Nimrod said the programme was not just another certification exercise, but a strategic investment in the future of Nigerian volleyball.

He emphasised that true coaching excellence goes beyond acquiring certificates, insisting that productivity, practical experience, and measurable results are the real indicators of success. According to him, Nigeria cannot rely on raw talent alone to compete with the best volleyball nations in the world; rather, the country must develop a coaching ecosystem capable of producing disciplined, technically sound and tactically intelligent players from grassroots to elite level.

Nimrod noted that Nigeria has consistently shown potential in beach volleyball, particularly at youth and continental levels, but must take the next step by focusing intensely on refining coaching philosophy, improving training methods and embracing modern scientific approaches to player development. He added that the federation will continue to lobby for more international partnerships, courses and exchange programmes, ensuring that Nigerian coaches remain updated with current global trends.

He charged the participants to return to their clubs, states and training centres with a commitment to implement what they have learned, stressing that the impact of the course will be judged not by the certificates awarded but by the future performance of Nigerian teams.

According to Nimrod, the goal remains clear: to raise a generation of coaches capable of consistently producing elite athletes and positioning Nigeria as a true force in international beach volleyball.
