In a strategic move to accelerate the growth of volleyball in Nigeria, the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has announced plans to sign a landmark partnership agreement with the United Arab Emirates Volleyball Federation on October 31, 2025.
The disclosure was made by the President of the NVBF, Engineer Musa Nimrod, during a courtesy visit by the President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Mr. Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, to his office in Kaduna on Saturday. The visit was part of activities ahead of SWAN’s 60th anniversary celebration, scheduled to hold in Abuja later this month.

Engineer Nimrod expressed optimism about the forthcoming collaboration, noting that Nigeria’s volleyball development efforts have continued to attract international recognition and support.
“Nigeria is making huge progress in the development of volleyball, and several countries are willing to partner with us to further strengthen the sport,” Nimrod stated. “We are excited that the UAE is one of those countries, and I will be traveling there on October 31 to formalize the partnership agreement.”
He explained that the partnership would focus on capacity building, coaching exchange programs, youth development, and infrastructural support, adding that such initiatives would further position Nigeria as a strong force in African volleyball.
Nimrod, who was recently re-elected unopposed for an unprecedented third term as NVBF President, lauded stakeholders, coaches, and players for their contributions to the sport’s steady rise in the country.
“The success we are witnessing today is the result of collective effort,” he said. “Our goal remains to make volleyball one of the leading sports in Nigeria, and we are already achieving that through strong grassroots programs and international partnerships.”
The NVBF boss reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining the federation’s momentum through strategic collaborations that would enhance technical development and create new opportunities for Nigerian athletes
