Nigeria Volleyball Federation Seeks Depth In Modern Techniques

Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) have set in motion plans to ensure the country’s clubs, players and coaches are well grounded in new techniques of the sport, with a view towards enhancing better results on the international stage.

Sports247.ng reports that the search has led to the NVBF seeking to employ a foreign technical adviser, who would be expected to teach modern tricks and skills of the sport in Nigeria.

This was confirmed by NVBF president, Engineer Musa Nimrod, who affirmed that there is the need for a foreign technical adviser to set the nation on the right part towards deeper depth in the sport.

He disclosed further that the new gaffer would also be saddled with the task of handling the country’s teams at next year’s Africa Beach Nations Cup and U19 Men’s World Championship.

Nimrod said Confederation of Africa Volleyball is willing to help Nigeria achieve the task adding that the federation was prepared with the right vision to place the country on sound footing.

He added: “We shall be engaging the services of a foreign Technical Adviser. Our vision is to immediately re-position our national teams to satisfy the high expectations of our beloved nation in every outing. We are prepared to place the country’s volleyball on a new pedestal.

“During the recently concluded U21 men’s African Nations Cup most of the countries made use of the VIS technology which Nigeria never had.

“Our hope is for the technical adviser to impact more volleyball knowledge into the indigenous coaches during his stay.

“The challenges ahead are enormous, especially that of participation in the U19 Men’s World Championships itself.

“We are determined to take courageous steps and far reaching decisions that will continue to give our teams good fortune in all tournaments.”
