Nigeria To Host 13th ECOWAS African Wrestling Tournament In Abuja

Nigeria is set to host the 13th ECOWAS African Wrestling Tournament from March 6-8, 2025, as part of celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The tournament, organized in collaboration with the National Sports Commission (NSC), will take place at the Velodrome, Package A of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. It will bring together top wrestling talents from across West Africa, strengthening regional sports ties and fostering unity through athletics.

NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to host a world-class tournament. They assured that the country would provide a hospitable and well-organized event, reflecting Nigeria’s growing reputation as a major destination for international sporting competitions.

The championship will not only showcase West African wrestling excellence but also highlight Nigeria’s commitment to promoting sports development and fostering regional cooperation.
