Nigeria Taekwondo Federation Rankings Roll Out

The latest ranking by Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF) has been made public, and sports247.ng can reveal that there is no substantial change to the shape of what has been seen in the country of recent.

The national ranking, which is updated after every major event, shows that the top ten taekwondo stars in the country are unchanged, though some names changed below the top position.

The NTF Ranking System, which debuted in 2017, is meant to track the progress and development of elite and upcoming takweondo stars in the country.

Top ranked players would earn an invitation to the National Selection camp for the 2019 All African Games.

Furthermore, eight top ranked athletes in each weight category would be seeded for the forthcoming National Sports Festival from December 6 to 16 in Abuja.

Gold medalists at the 2018 National Sports Festival will earn national team invitations for the 2019 All Africa Games’ camp.

However, two of Nigeria’s stars of the moment, Commonwealth gold medalist, Josephine Esuku and most valuable athlete at 2018 Korean Ambassador’s Cup, Ifeoluwa Ajayi kept their grip atop the ranking.

Esuku and Ajayi were outstanding at the Ambassador Cup, with Ajayi best individual, while Esuku ensured that Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) retained their title.

Ajayi, who represented Q-Madi Club of Lagos displayed exceptional skills, while Esuku got two gold medals for NSCDC and they emerged as overall best for the sixth consecutive edition.
