Nigeria Sports Commission Returns As Tinubu Scrap Ministry Sports Development

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Federal Executive Council have scrapped the Federal Ministry of Sports Development and announced the return of the Nigeria Sports Commission, Sports247 reports .

The news was broken on Wednesday afternoon via the verified X handle Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy.

According to the information contained in the tweet, the National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports.He also disclosed that the decision was taken after the Federal Executive Council which was held in Abuja on Wednesday, 23 October 2024 as the Nigeria Delta Development Ministry was also scrapped while its functions will be overseen by the Niger Delta Development Commission.

” President Tinubu and Federal Executive Council, FEC, scrap Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of sports development. There will now be a ministry of regional development to oversee all the regional development commissions, such as Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission , North East Development Commission.” The tweet reads in part.

The FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
