Nigeria team to the just concluded African Boxing Championship in Yaounde, Cameroon, made the country proud by winning four medals(1gold, 1 Silver and 2 bronze), thus placing Nigeria on the medal table.
Sponsored by the Vice President of the Nigeria boxing Federation (NBF), Azania Omo-Agege, Nigeria presented six boxers at the competition.
Adams Olaore who fought in the men’s heavyweight category, won the gold medal for Nigeria while Patricia Mbata accounted for the Silver medal in the women’s middleweight class.
The two bronze medals were won by Dolapo Omole (featherweight) and Adeola Oyesiji (Light-Flyweight) in the women’s category respectively.
Technical Director of the Nigeria Boxing Federation Mr. Femi Ayandibu Who was with the team in Yaounde, Cameroun, said the championship was indeed tough.
