Nigeria Seeks Crucial Win Against Hosts To Boost Afrobasket Qualification Hopes

The Nigerian men’s basketball team is determined to secure a vital victory against the host nation to strengthen their chances of qualifying for the Afrobasket Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.

With the team needing at least two wins in this qualification window, the players remain optimistic about their prospects in the third phase of the qualifiers.

Speaking ahead of the crucial match, head coach Abdulrahman Mohammed expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to make Nigeria proud.

“The boys are in high spirits and eager to give their best,” he stated.

Team captain Ike Nwamu echoed this sentiment, assuring Nigerians of the team’s readiness.

“We are prepared and excited for this opportunity to represent our country,” Nwamu affirmed.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), led by Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, has reiterated its belief in the team’s ability to secure qualification.

The federation emphasized the importance of the qualifiers, which prompted extensive preparation, including training camps in Abuja and Tripoli.

Kida further assured that the entire Nigerian basketball community stands firmly behind the team as they push for success at the Afrobasket.
