Nigeria Police Force (NPF) put up a stunning performance against Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) 3-2 (25-23, 22-25, 25-20, 18-25, 15-12) in the men’s match at the 2022 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League in Akure on Thursday.
Former Nigeria U21 Beach Volleyball player, Emenike Ezike superlative performance gave Nigeria Police Force the last point to secure victory in the 5th set.
Nigeria Police drew the first blood in the first set 25-23 points despite leading 21-14 in the early stages. NSCDC retaliated in the second set 25-22 points, sending a strong warning to the Police squad. Nigeria Police against all odds took charge of the third set 25-20 points before NSCDC leveled up in the fourth set 25-18 with first powers from Sunday Akinbo, Samuel Ogwuche, Emmanuel Jatto and Abiye Amakiri.
Nigeria Police took the early lead in the fifth set 8-4 points, switching court sides; Emenike Ezike and Obayemi Ogunshina were too hot for the NSCDC team to handle as they won the fifth set by 15-12 points.
Defending Champion, Kano Pillars came back from a set deficit Kada Kings 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-19, 26-24) while OFFA VC school Kwara United 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-16) in the men’s last match of Day 1.
