Following the humanitarian gesture and support of Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Honourable Sunday Dare who doled out goodies and monthly stipend to the mother of the late goal king, Rashidi Yekini, Hajia Sikiratu Yekini as well as late Sam Okparaji’ s mother, the Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, J.P has showered encomium on the visionary minister.
The Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Ejidike noted that without any fear of contradiction, the Minister of Sports, Hon. Sunday Dare has displayed high sense of responsibility and patriotism by remembering these heroes who had contributed greatly to their father land in the field of sports.
Ejidike in a press statement noted that it is a good thing to happen from the desk of a sports minister which will give hope to Nigerian sports men and women that their service to the nation would not be in vein.
” If the honourable minister can deem it appropriate to remember these heroes, it shows that there is hope for sports men and women in Nigeria. I want to believe that the gesture is to establish the fact that the government through the Minister of Sports, Hon. Sunday Dare has good plan for patriotic Nigerians. Beyond, I don’t want people to imagine as if the mother of Late Rashidi Yekini has been abandoned, but the minister is lending his support at this particular period.”
” Let me add with great appeal to the government to offer employment to either of daughter of late Rashidi Yekini as the mother may have petty trade and transactions that may keep her soul and body together. All the same, the minister deserves our commendation, hence I want to appreciate his genuine intention. ”
He added that the minister is very versatile and performing which to him will take Nigeria to a greater height .
Chief Ejidike sounded that the gesture should be extended to other great sports men and women who had done the country proud most of whom are living in abject poverty.
