Nigeria on cause to raise world champions in Marathon – Coach Stephen Nuhu

The Nigeria distance Coach, Stephen Nuhu has bodly proclaimed the possibility of raising world marathon champions in Nigeria after athletes exploits at the Valuejet ultra marathon race which kicked off at the Gateway stadium, Sagamu.

Despite just concluding her N.C.E examinations few weeks back, that didn’t stop Elizabeth Nuhu from participating in the Valuejet Ultra marathon race picking up the second spot in the 50m race and also earning an additional one million naira from Hon. Kunle Shoname, Chairman valuejet, the main sponsor of the event having previously participated in the Lagos women run with the 3rd position to her name.

Speaking to Sports247.ng at the Valuejet Marathon ground, the National distance Coach talked about the prospect of grooming world marathon athletes in Nigeria, ” Undoubtedly, we have talents, youths that are dedicated to give their career whatever it takes when we talk about athletics, they just need the government support”.

” If athletics can get the support, attention given to football and other aspects of sport, events like this should be consistently organised”, he allayed.

” I am glad we did well as a team and also individual athletes made us proud, its one of those moments to hold onto, he elatedly said.

The event which was sponsored by Acquina table waters, Keystone Bank, Nilayo Sports management led by Bukola Olopade, Valuejet headed by Honorable Kunle Shonome hosted 16 international countries with events such as this in sight.
