The President of the Kungfu Federation of Nigeria, Adewumi Adekunle, says plans are underway to establish federal training centres toward promoting and supporting states in attracting athletes to help them develop interest in the game.
Adekunle stated this in Ilorin, that this was necessary as poor attention was being given to the game of Kungfu and that funding was a major challenge.
He said the federation would work toward attracting sponsors through its programmes and also partner relevant stakeholders to make the game popular among Nigerians.
Adekunle said the game had just been recognised as an Olympic sport and would feature in the 2024 Olympics.
“The game for now is only recognised at the youth Olympics,” he concluded.
