Nigeria Karate Federation honours Shaibu with black belt in Edo State

The Nigeria Karate Federation on Friday in Benin honoured the Edo Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, with a honourary black belt for his exceptional qualities.

Jack Mbom, Chief Instructor of Karate Federation of Nigeria, presented the award during his visit with other members of the federation on a courtesy visit to Edo Government House in Benin.

“We gave him the award, because of his leadership style. He is a proven leader, and he has a good look of a leader.

“This is very important. Karate is for leaders. It’s a character builder, and it also helps to develop leadership skills.

“Our leaders need good health and sound mind, and karate will help them in this regard,” he said.

In his remarks, Shaibu commended the Karate Federation for finding him worthy for the award, saying that Karate is beyond the martial aspect.

“I have read about Karate, and it’s beyond martial art. It’s more of an intellectual thing and leadership.

“Karate is about thinking and doing things that make you act in the right direction,” he said.
