The Abuja-based football icon stated this while featuring in a leading WhatsApp group, Sports World Platform yesterday (Sunday) during a weekly interview session tagged Super Interview which was co-anchored by Ibadan based Sports journalist, Sunday Agunbiade popularly known as Mr VAR and Lagos based journalist, Wale Oye
The soft-spoken administrator advocated for aggressive youth engagement which will be in form of catching them young and giving them a sense of direction.
He stressed the need to invest more by creating a viable and sustainable league format that would be churning out talents monthly or quarterly for marketing drive.
According to him, Ifeanyi said:
“Our 1994 and 1996 were predominantly products of grassroots and we can still get Leonel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo of this world in our league if we can go deeper with intentional investment”
Ifeanyi added that they have already transferred players abroad and urged stakeholders to replicate the same in their domain. “I think there is a need to engage youths more as a good number of our boys have already travelled abroad from Rising Stars Football league.
Some of those discovered from the Rising Stars league have already travelled abroad. Imagine, if we did not present such an opportunity, what do you think would have happened to their talents? Ifeanyi Kama asked rhetorically.
