Until we do the right thing in developing our football, we can’t be relevant, this is according to FIFA License agent, Olawale Onipede.
Olawale Onipede who is not only a FIFA license agent but also the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of Reigns Soccer Agency in Lisbon, stated that until we begin to do the right thing in our development system in football, we will remain irrelevant in football.
Speaking with Sports247, Olawale admitted that Nigeria is blessed with a lot of football talents all across the country, as he likened Nigeria as ‘African’s Brazil’, who loves football with great passion and produces great talents in the past but due to the poor developmental system in the country has failed to continue, as the reverse is now the case. He stated this when being asked about the performance of the Golden Eaglets at the ongoing WAFU B Tournament in Togo.
“Many eyes looks but only a few eyes see. Our developmental system is very poor, so don’t expect any more excitement from the team (The Golden Eaglets)”.
“Nigeria is Africa’s Brazil that loves football with great passion and produces super talents in the past, but now is a reversed case”.
“The team (The Golden Eaglets) lacks character and attitude, same is our National team (the Super Eagles). I don’t want to talk more about them, let me just scratch the surface for you for now”.
“At this level, Nigeria has produced big names in the past but we are not doing the right thing anymore. Until we do the right thing, then we can be relevant.
The Golden Eaglet’s of Nigeria will hope to qualify for the final of the ongoing WAFU B Tournament in Togo, by defeating Burkina Faso on Friday in the Semi-Finals of the Competition.
