Nigerian FC Twente right-back Troynne Ebuehi who just returned from a long lay-off due to injury is anticipating a return to the Nigeria National team after last appearing for the Super Eagles two years ago in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Iceland in a 2018 FIFA World cup group stage game. After his injury lay-off, Ebuehi seems to be ready to get back into action with the National team.
The defender who moved to Benfica after his impressive showing at the FIFA World cup in Russia is yet to make a senior appearance for the Portuguese giants as his injury problems have affected his career since his move. His injury also prevented him from featuring for the National team in the 2019 AFCON in Egypt. The 24-year-old is now back to full fitness and is eager to get back with the national team.
The Nigerian international is now eager to return to football and prove himself at his new club Twente. He also showed his appreciation to the super Eagles supporters for their prayers and their support during his long lay-off
He told BBC sports that “I can’t thank the Nigerian fans enough. I don’t often check my social media messages but once in a while I do and I see some amazing and incredible messages from the fans.
“So many people praying and wishing me well despite being away for two years. I will continue to be grateful for the support I get”
However, the Super Eagles right-back has shown his excitement about getting back to action for Twente in the Eredivise where he is at on loan from Benfica.
“The last two years have shown me that everything happens for a reason in life”
“This big injury and difficulty with my rehab – I think it’s a big test and God wanted to show how strong I am. I think I have passed that test.
