Former Super Eagles striker, Julius Efosa Aghahowa has advocated a situation in which players in the national team’s frontline are allowed to stay longer in the squad.
The former Shaktar Donetsk of Ukraine and Aston Villa of England attacker told sports247.ng that allowing national team strikers longer span in the Eagles would create room for continuity, which he said brings about better results on the pitch.
Aghahowa stated further that the Eagles’ coaches should promote all-round continuity among players in the team, especially in the forward position, in order to accord them better understanding and blending.
He added that the pressure on forwards to perform in national colors is more than on any other positions.’
‘Aggie’ expatiated: ‘I want a situation in which we allow our strikers longer time to make their mark in the Super Eagles.
“We should give them more time to gel together and to settle down to the job of raining goals.
“At the same time, we should not get angry with them when they fail to deliver, because it is not what they want. They want to score.
“In fact, I can tell you that constant criticism by the fans and press is forcing Nigerian strikers to consider other roles, including the midfield position where the attention and pressure is less.”
