Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF) president, Senator Abdul Ningi has expressed dismay with the dilapidated state of the hockey pitch inside Package B of Abuja National Stadium.
Ningi confessed in a chat with sports247.ng said he is sad to note that wedding parties and other social events are holding more at the pitch than hockey matches.
He added: “I am alarmed that, quite a number of times, I have witnessed marriage ceremonies taking place on the pitch.
“It dismays me, but I have called the attention of the Honorable Minister of Youth And Sports to address the issue.
“I believe we will soon get a strict directive on the matter, so that we can bring sanity back into the organisation of hockey matches there.”
