Team Lagos and former Stationery Stores FC head coach Adeshina Yusuf believes Nigeria have what it takes to win the 2021 CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
The draw of the delayed 2021 AFCON was held in Yaounde on Tuesday with the Super Eagles pitted in a tricky Group D alongside Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.
In an interview with Sports247, coach Yusuf expressed his sentiments, backing Gernot Rohr’s men to perform well in Cameroon next year. He said:
“It won’t be a tough group for Nigeria except for Egypt that can give us a little issue. But I believe in the Super Eagles because they have the collection of young players which most of them are playing regularly at their clubs. I believe they can qualify [from the group] and even go on to win the Nations Cup.”
Yusuf views Group A which consists of hosts Cameroon, 2013 finalists, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Cape Verde Islands as the group to look out for.
“In other groups, I think Group A is the group of death. I believe Cameroon will qualify from that group still.
“Nevertheless, I believe we will do well in Cameroon and the Super Eagles will bring the cup to Nigeria, hopefully.
The pandemic-postponed tournament will start from January 9 through to February 6, 2022.
