Nigeria finished eighth at Africa Women Handball Championship after losing slimly to Guinea in a classification match on Thursday.
The Coach Rafiu Salami tutored side started the match like a house on fire against the ladies from Conakry but they couldn’t outrightly outshine their opponent as the first half ended in a pulsating 11-11 draw.
The second half started the same way as the first half but this time the Guineans did all they could to ensure they get a 25-21 victory over Nigeria.
The National Women Handball Team played seven matches losing 6 and winning one.
They qualified for the quarter-final of the women’s Handball Nation’s Cup for the first time since the 1992 edition in Morocco whilst also playing in the championship for the first time in 27 years since they last participated in 1994.
