Austria-born Nigerian prodigy Emmanuel Aiwu is close to completing a summer switch to Tom Brady’s Birmingham City just a year after his £3m move to Cremonese with the defender sold on the club’s vision since the NFL icon’s investment.

Aiwu who plays for Italian side Cremonese and only joined last summer from Rapid Vienna for £3m has been attracted to Birmingham’s vision following the takeover by Tom Wagner and investment from his business partner who is also a former NFL superstar in Tom Brady.

The 22-year-old Aiwu has agreed to personal terms with Birmingham and it is now down to the final details being finalized between clubs on a loan with the option to buy.
Birmingham has been showing their intent since Brady joined the cause, they also moved to sign highly-rated young Fulham forward Jay Stansfield yesterday with the England U20 international joining on loan.
The Championship side returns to St Andrews tomorrow as they face newly-promoted Plymouth Argyle and know that victory could see them move to the top of the table if results go their way elsewhere.
Emmanuel Aiwu will join John Eustace’s squad and provide much-needed depth in defense as the Blues seek further reinforcements.
