Nigeria’s under 18 women handball team began their 19th Africa Women’s Youth Handball Championship with a 28-18 victory over Algeria on Saturday in Monastir, Tunisia.

The Coach Shittu Adewunmi Agboola led team, who were making a return to the competition for the first time in 23 years, didn’t find it easy in the first half against the Algerians as they played out a pulsating 10-10 to end the half.
Coach Agboola, noticing that the girls were having unnecessary turnovers, made some tactical changes that saw the team use the wings more in the second half anchored more by Taiwo Babatunde and Nigeria blew away their North Africans opponent to win the half 18-8 and the match 28-10.

Taiwo Babatunde was voted the MVP of the match.
Nigeria will play their next match against Guinea on Sunday at 4pm .
