Nigeria’s under 18 girls handball team had to dig deep to earn their first victory over Guinea 30-25 at the IHF Trophy Africa Continental Phase which commenced on Tuesday.
The team led by Coach Shittu Adewunmi Agboola met a strong opposition in Guinea who came out to tactically disrupt the team flow with some major turnovers but it was still an end to end affair in the first half which ended 13-13.
The second half saw Nigeria become purposeful and making use of the wings and 9 meters as well as better defence. These tactical changes by Coach Agboola helped Nigeria to win 30-25.
Nigeria will play Madagascar in their next match on Wednesday at 5pm Nigeria time. Madagascar had earlier lost their opening match against Rwanda 45-20.
