The annual Nigeria Cup Golf Tournament is set to kick off at the Golf section of Ikoyi Club 1938 on Saturday, offering a week of excitement, competition, and camaraderie.

This tournament, established to celebrate Nigeria’s independence anniversary, promises fun and fanfare, according to Akoni Yinka Olafimihan, Chairman of the 2023 Nigeria Cup Organising Committee, SPORTS247.NG reports.
At a pre-tournament briefing held on Thursday, Olafimihan assured participants and golf enthusiasts that all necessary arrangements have been meticulously put in place to ensure the smooth and enjoyable conduct of this year’s competition.
The weeklong festivities will commence on Saturday, September 23, with the Children’s tournament, allowing young golf enthusiasts to showcase their skills on the course. The schedule continues with the Caddies on Monday, followed by Ladies’ day on Tuesday.
Wednesday will see a special Nigeria Cup kitty, adding an element of intrigue to the event.
Invited professional golfers will take to the course on Thursday, competing for a share of the impressive N2.5 million stake allocated to their category. Friday’s play is dedicated to Guests, Veterans, and Nigeria Cup sponsors, who will have the opportunity to participate and enjoy the golfing action.

The 2023 Nigeria Cup will culminate on Saturday with the men’s competition, followed by a grand gala night at the Clubhouse.
