A milestone in Edo State cricket development will be celebrated on Sunday, October 19, 2025, as Dr. Uyi Akpata, President of the Cricket Federation of Nigeria (NCF), inaugurates a brand-new indoor cricket facility at the High Performance Centre, Iyoba Girls College, Ugbowo, Benin City.
The inauguration forms part of the grand finale of the Edo State Female Cricket League, which concludes this weekend.

The indoor facility represents a major step forward for cricket in the region, providing athletes with state-of-the-art infrastructure to train year-round and helping to elevate the standard of women’s cricket in Edo State.
The league finals promise exciting matchups. Emotan Queens have already secured their spot in the championship game after winning all their preliminary matches. They will await the winner between Ekpoma Supernova and Emotan Queens’ challengers, determined from the Saturday matches. Ekpoma Supernova will face Emotan Queens at 10:00 AM at Iyoba Girls College, while Idia Royals CC and Adolor Amazons clash at 1:00 PM at the same venue.
The ceremony will host top government officials, including H.E. Dennis Idahosa, Deputy Governor of Edo State, as Special Guest of Honour, and Hon. Desmond Enabulele, Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, as Guest of Honour. Dr. Uyi Akpata, who also serves as Chairman of the Edo State Cricket Association and President-Elect of the NCF, will welcome dignitaries and cricket stakeholders.
The event, proudly sponsored by PETS Foundation, is set to commence at 1:00 PM and promises a thrilling showcase of the talent, skill, and dedication of Edo female cricketers.
