Nigeria’s handball cadet team coach, Emeka Nnamani has declared that the country has what it takes to win this year’s IHF Challenge Trophy.
Casting a look ahead of the impending competition, sports247.ng reports that Nnamani is talking tough, as he says Nigeria will not just be ranked among participants.
Nnamani stressed that both the cadet team and the junior squad will be gunning for top spots in their respective categories, as they are capable of pulling off upsets.
He disclosed that both squads have have resumed training ahead of their outings at the World Championships in Spain and Macedonia.
This comes after Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) invited 20 cadet and junior players, as well as some discoveries from the National U18 and 21 Championships in Lagos.
Nnamani said his team are poised to cause shocks in Kosovo next month, as they aim to clinch the IHF Challenge Trophy, thereby making history for Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
He stressed: “With the level of preparations, the boys will go far and shock the world.
“In the past, we did not have stable competitions where they boys can play, but all that has now changed.
“Since the coming of the current president, Sam Ocheho, some of them have played in various tournaments including the league.
“Some of the boys who participated at the U18 and 21 championships played very fantastic handball and most of them will fit in.
“In fact, six of them have been invited to camp. They are active and fit. The plans I have for the IHF Challenge Trophy is to attend and win.”
