The President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod, announced that the annual beach volleyball tour initiated during his tenure is producing positive outcomes.
He made this statement following Nigeria’s victory at the 2024 African U19 Girls Beach Volleyball Nations Championship in Morocco on Thursday.
Nimrod, who also serves as the Chairman of the Control Committee for the 2024 African U19 Boys Beach Volleyball Nations Championship, explained that the beach volleyball tour has provided players with valuable playing time and better preparation for international competitions.
He urged state and private clubs across Nigeria to support the development of beach volleyball by organizing mini tournaments and participating in the Beach Tour and the President Cup.
As a member of the CAVB Beach Commission, Nimrod expressed his excitement about the success of the beach volleyball tour.
He noted that Nigeria now has a strong pool of players to select from, thanks to the investments made by the Nigeria Beach Volleyball Commission.
“Esther Mbah, a National Youth Games, President Beach Volleyball Cup, and Nigeria Beach Tour Champion, has risen through the ranks to become the U19 Beach Volleyball Champion and an African Games bronze medalist.
Similarly, Pamela Bawa, who is just 15 years old, is a gold medalist at the annual National Youth Games.
“Victor Eze, an U19 Boys bronze medalist, has consistently participated in the President and Beach Tour with Kada Stars.
We have numerous young players from different clubs in the country actively featuring in beach volleyball tournaments,” Nimrod pointed out.
He assured that this year’s edition of the Beach Volleyball Tour will be even larger and more impressive.
The outstanding performances of Nigeria’s representatives at the Olympic Qualifiers and the U19 Boys and Girls African Nations Championships have proven that their achievements are genuine.
“This is the opportune moment for volleyball associations in states with natural beaches to organize mini beach volleyball competitions.
These events will attract more children and corporate partners. Government support alone is not enough, which is why we encourage selfless individuals to support their local volleyball associations,” Nimrod concluded.
