Team 360 FC technical director, Shola Raji is relishing his role as the coach of Access Bank’s football team and his ability to win a bronze medal with them at this year’s Bankers Games.
Although the outspoken football tactician stated in an interview with sports247.ng that his target had been the gold medal, he disclosed that he still appreciated what his side got on Saturday.
Indeed, his team’s victory over Stanbic Bank in the third place match meant Raji had taken one step forward with the squad, as they settled for fourth position in last year’s edition of the multiple sports competition among bank workers.
Raji told sports247.ng after the pulsating encounter, “I am very happy that we were able to win the bronze medal in this 2024 Nigeria Bankers Games.
“It is a better one for us, because we ended fourth in 2023. This means we have taken one step forward.
“Actually, our aim was to get to the final, but we still stepped forward and went further ahead than what we finished with last year.”
Raji then revealed some secrets of his team’s success, before which he spoke about the positive effects that Saturday’s victory will bring to the bank and the players.
“It’s really a good one for Access Bank as a whole and for them as a team.
“This year, we had to look out for one or two new players from inside the bank to beef up the team, and I think it paid off at the end of the day.
“Although we didn’t end up with gold or silver, I feel the players we brought into the team helped us win this bronze,” Raji theorised.
