The Nigeria Armwrestling Federation (NAF) has announced the postponement of the 15th National Open Armwrestling Championship originally scheduled for December 2024.
The event will now take place in 2025. This decision reflects the Federation’s respect for its late Media Director, Mr. Dapo Sotuminu, whose burial will occur later this December.

Mr. Sotuminu, a pioneer of the Nigeria Armwrestling Federation, was instrumental in the development and promotion of Armwrestling in Nigeria and across Africa. His tireless contributions helped elevate the sport, making him a revered figure in the Nigerian and African sports community.
In a statement, the Federation’s President, Engr. Samuel Jackson, expressed the organization’s commitment to honoring Sotuminu’s legacy.
“Postponing the championship is a small but meaningful way to pay our respects to a man who has given so much to the sport. His passion and dedication were unmatched, and we owe him this moment of reflection and honor,” Jackson said.
