Nigeria Air Force Boosting Non-Kinetic Approach For Promoting Peace Through Sports

The fourth edition of the Nigerian Chief of Air Staff Peace Cup football competition is a concept for an annual football tournament between selected teams of Under 20 from all the 36 states, including Abuja, which will be continued as one of the non-kinetic approaches in the war against all criminal activities in the country.

The host commander of the 455 Base Services, Group Captain Mustapha Sulaiman, said the Nigerian Air Force adopted the non-kinetic approach against insurgency, drug abuse, and other things, following the realization that the desire to change the bad psychological thinking of some youth who have been brainwashed as the leaders of tomorrow.

Group Captain M. Sulaiman said they choose football as one of the sports that brings fun to the people and also pulls them together as a family.

Earlier, the commander of 455 highlighted the meaningful strategies that had been introduced by Nigerian Air Marshal Hassan Balla Abubakar, the current and the 22nd Chief of the Air Staff, and Air Vice Marshal A.Y. Abdullahi, Air Officer Commanding Air Training Command, Nigerian Air Force, for using “non-kinetic approaches to change the youth’s bad psychological thinking into positive thinking.”

The Nigerian Air Force involves collaboration between the Nigerian Army, Navy, and other security agencies to put hands together with the Nigerian Police to maintain peace by protecting the life and property of the entire people of our great nation.”

The annual sport activities aim at bringing unity among youth in the nation by making sure that the Nigerian Air Force is not only achieving the sustainable security of the nation by the Kinetics approach but also through the provision of non-kinetic approaches such as medical services outreach to the public, sporting activities, and many other packages that will enhance the cordial relationship between the civil society and the Nigerian Air Force in particular and the armed forces in general.”

For 455 Base Services, hosting the famous African Youth Sports Federation U20 Peace Cup in Kano State. It is a welcome development, as computation will provide the much-needed opportunity to the youth.

The 1st and 2nd positions will represent Nigeria at the World U20 Peace Football competition in Lisbon, Portugal.

The computation will run from November 10 to December 7, 2024, at Kano Pillars Stadium and Sani Abacha Stadium, respectively, bringing together the best U20 football teams from across the nation.
