In a Tuesday morning briefing, the Co-Chairman of the Technical Committee, Enefiok Udo-Obong, announced a one-week extension for the Niger Delta Sports Festival (NDSF) registration.
The decision comes in response to numerous requests from states affected by the ongoing zonal qualifiers.

“Due to the request of many states and their participation in the zonal eliminations, we have decided to extend registration until March 7, 2025,” Enefiok Udo-Obong stated.
As a result, the timeline for Local Government and Federal Constituency trials has also been adjusted. State Liaison Committees will receive the list of registered athletes and their respective sports by March 9, 2025, while constituency and LG trials will take place between March 11-15, 2025.
Despite the adjustments, Udo-Obong assured that the festival schedule remains unchanged. “We are still on track to begin the trials and officially open the festival on April 1, 2025,” he confirmed.
The Niger Delta Sports Festival (NDSF) is the first sports intervention project by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and coincides with the commission’s 25th anniversary under the theme “Beyond Oil: Harnessing Talents.” Over 3,000 athletes from the nine NDDC mandate states are expected to compete across 17 sports.
