Prominent voices such as Chief Solomon Ogba, a vice president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), renowned sports marketer Mike Itemuagbor, and top journalist Mitchel Obi have lauded the festival, emphasizing its potential to bolster sports development and economic growth.

Obi, a former vice president of the Association of International Sports Press (AIPS), described the NDSF as a game changer, aligning with the Federal Government’s vision of building a sports economy. “This is a positive addition to the evolving sports business ecosystem because it is not just a springboard for identifying talents, it also offers a platform to truly hone the skills of those already discovered,” he remarked.

Itemuagbor praised the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for integrating sports into its intervention programs, noting that beyond infrastructure projects, youth engagement through sports can address restiveness and stimulate economic activity.

Ogba, a former president of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), highlighted the festival’s value in contributing athletes to Nigeria’s national teams across multiple sports.

Scheduled for April 1-8 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the NDSF is expected to host over 3,000 athletes and 600 coaches from the nine mandate states of the NDDC, competing in 17 different sports.
