Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon is excited over the involvement of rookie linebacker of Nigeria descent, BJ Ojulari after the NFL team took him off from the physically unable to perform list following his knee injury which occurred during the off-season.
Gannon said that the 6-foot-2 linebacker who was the 41st overall pick out of LSU.had been dealing with a knee injury that happened during the offseason, causing him to miss the first two weeks of camp although he said that there was “no timetable” for when Ojulari might be ready to play in a game.
The team announced they activated him off the PUP list, which he can’t go back on again according to league rules.
“The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has activated linebacker BJ Ojulari (knee) from the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP),” read the short and sweet press release.
“I’m just excited to get him out there and moving around with his buddies,” Gannon said.
The 21-year-old Ojulari is expected to be a vital piece of the defense, joining holdovers such as Zaven Collins, Isaiah Simmons, and Budda Baker. Ojulari’s brother Azeez plays for the New York Giants.
BJ Ojulari who was the final member of the Cardinals’ 2023 NFL Draft class to sign his rookie deal hasn’t practiced for much of the offseason due to his knee injury.
The activation comes right in time for Ojulari – who thrived at getting after the quarterback at LSU – to play in the team’s upcoming preseason games.
