In the wake of the Super Falcons’ second loss in the group stage, the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, (NFF) Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has expressed optimism about the team’s chances of advancing. Despite a late goal that dashed hopes against Spain, Gusau remains confident in the team’s abilities and resilience.

“Though the result was a huge blow, the Super Falcons showed remarkable improvement and tenacity against the reigning World Champions,” Gusau stated. “Our performance against Spain, especially after the loss to Brazil, demonstrates our potential and hard work.”
The Super Falcons, who faced a formidable Spanish side, managed to hold their own for much of the match. A late goal, however, sealed their fate, leaving them with a narrow path to qualification. Gusau acknowledged the disappointment but emphasized the positive aspects of the team’s display.
“The players gave their all on the pitch, and it was evident that we have the quality to compete at the highest level,” he said. “We were unfortunate with the timing of the goal, but the performance itself was commendable.”
As the team prepares for their final group game, Gusau extended his best wishes and urged the players to remain focused and determined. He maintained that while the chances might be slim, faith and hard work could see them through.
“Football is unpredictable, and we’ve seen many miraculous comebacks in the sport,” Gusau remarked. “I believe that with determination and by God’s grace, the Super Falcons can still make it out of the group. We have a small chance, but it’s a chance worth fighting for.”
With one more match to go, the Super Falcons are set to give their all in a bid to advance. The support from the federation and the entire nation is a testament to the belief in their potential to overcome the odds.
“Let’s rally behind the team and give them the support they need,” Gusau concluded. “The journey has been tough, but it’s not over yet.”
