The president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau has sent a heartwarming congratulatory message to the owner of Remo Stars FC of Ikenne, Honourable Kunle Soname on the occasion of his 59th birthday and celebrated him as a ‘committed investor’ in the round leather game.
Sports247 gathered that Soname clocked the milestone age of 59 on Sunday, the same day Remo Stars made history in winning the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) for the first time, after twice emerging as back-to-back runners-up and once finishing in third place.

With accolades rolling in from left, right and centre, Nigeria’s number one football official would not be left out in singing praises for Soname, who also owns Beyond Limit FC of Ikenne in the lower division Nigerian National League (NNL), as well as Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) outfit Remo Queens and CD Feirense of Portugal.
“As a football federation, we are enamoured by the worthwhile investments that Honourable Kunle Soname is making in the game of football in Nigeria, Africa and the world. To be proprietor of four different clubs across continent’s and gender is no mean feat.
“We celebrate his love for the game and wish him a very happy birthday and many happy returns,” Gusau was quoted to have said in a press release by NFF’s communications department.
The press statement further disclosed that the NFF supremo also noted the impact that Soname, who was once the chairman of Kosofe local government in Lagos State, has made in terms of sports infrastructure and prayed that God will continue blessing his expanding projects.
Gusau eulogised that Soname, who is also the chairman of Bet9ja betting platform and the Super Eagles’ new official airline, ValueJet, has made Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State available for camping of the junior and female national teams, while hosting some of their home matches as well.
“Apart from the clubs, what he has on ground at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo marks him out as a serious and committed investor.
“A number of our national teams continue to benefit from the facilities and equipment therein, and the project is still ongoing. We pray that God will grant him good health and long life to fulfil his dreams,” Gusau concluded
