The President of the Nigeria Football Federation and Fifa Council member, Amaju Pinnick, has expressed his delight over Nigeria’s hosting of the Aisha Buhari Six- Nation Football Tournament.
The six top African football playing nations already confirmed for the Invitational tournament scheduled for September 2021, include; host Nigeria, Cameroon, South Africa, Mali, Morocco, and Ghana.
According to the president of the NFF, Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has endorsed the championship, which is one of the programmes aimed at uplifting the girl/child in the continent.
The Six Nation Invitational is Amaju Pinnick’s direct effect of being elected as FIFA COUNCIL member.
Lagos, which is now the new hub of football excellence in Nigeria, will host the 10-day event, with all its aquatic and tourism splendor.
These top five African women football nations that will join host Nigeria, have confirmed their participation in the tournament.
The tournament which is a direct effect of Amaju Pinnick’s election into the FIFA Council as Africa’s representative would witness other activations to sensitise African women on the benefits of sports to national development and other issues affecting women in developing countries with direct reference to the place of the girl/child in our society.
The NFF president disclosed that the Aisha Buhari Six Nation Women’s Tournament would among other things be a festival of women football with some of the biggest names in world soccer expected to be in Nigeria to witness the games and also participate in some of the events lined up to celebrate the girl child.
Apart from the display of soccer artistry on the pitch, there will be other activations to sensitise Africans on the benefits of sports to national development. It will address issues affecting women in developing countries with direct reference to the place of the girl/child in the African continent.
