NFF Officials to Support Super Falcons in Friendly Against France

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, alongside Chairman of the NFF Women’s Football Committee, Ms. Aisha Falode, and General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, will be present to support the Super Falcons in their international friendly match against France’s Les Bleues.

The match is set for Saturday, 30th November at the 18,000-capacity Stade Raymond Kopa in Angers, a venue that opened in 1912 and was renovated seven years ago.

The Super Falcons, led by Coach Madugu, will have their official training session at the match venue on Friday evening. Unfortunately, the team will be without Turkey-based centre-back Oluwatosin Demehin due to injury.

This friendly marks the first encounter between the two teams since their clash at the FIFA Women’s World Cup nearly five and a half years ago, where France narrowly won 1-0 with Wendie Renard’s penalty. Despite the loss, the Super Falcons advanced to the Round of 16 due to favorable results in other groups.

Coach Madugu faces crucial decisions in the defense, with options including England-based Rofiat Imuran, home-girl Sikiratu Isah, veteran Osinachi Ohale, and Shukurat Oladipo for centre-back positions. Michelle Alozie and Ashley Plumptre are expected to cover the wing-back positions.

In the midfield, Portugal-based Christy Ucheibe, England-based Toni Payne, and France-based Jennifer Echegini are available, along with home-based professionals Adoo Yina and Josephine Mathias.

The attack will miss Captain Rasheedat Ajibade due to injury, placing expectations on Spain-based players Gift Monday and Rinsola Babajide.

Other attacking options include home-girl Mercy Omokwo, Egypt-based Blessing Nkor, and France-based Ifeoma Onumonu.
