Rasheedat Ajibade, the captain of the Super Falcons, has received congratulations from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after being named Player of the Season by her Spanish top level team, Atlético Madrid Femenino.
Ajibade’s season-long heroics were crowned by her game-winning goal against Villarreal ladies in the championship match, which guaranteed Atlético Madrid’s spot in the UEFA Champions League for the following year.
Her 10 goals and 8 assists during the season highlighted her vital part in the team’s accomplishments.
NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi congratulated Ajibade and said the federation was proud of her accomplishments, praising her as a model of self-control, devotion, and commitment for both her club and the national team.
“Rasheedat Ajibade has always served as an inspiration, embodying the traits that one would anticipate from a star player. Her performances for the Super Falcons have demonstrated her discipline, determination, and patriotism.
He remarked, “We are happy for her and think it will motivate her to lead the Super Falcons to victory at the upcoming Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France.”
The Super Falcons advanced to the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup in Australia last year thanks in large part to Rasheedat Ajibade. There, they lost to England in a penalty shootout despite going undefeated during regulation time.
