Newly elected chairman of the Nigerian Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau has hailed the three clubs hoisting the flags of the nation in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup.
According to the NFF boss, all three teams have done well in their campaign so far at the continental level. Speaking to reporters after the Rivers united match, he promised to put hands together with the clubs and get them prepared for the return leg.
“We are happy today. at least the three teams representing Nigeria won their matches. We will try anything we can do to have a good preparation going for the second leg” Gusau promised.
Recall Rivers United upset Moroccan cup holders Wydad Casablanca by pulling a 2-1 victory. The same was the story at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja where Tunisian Esperance got their share of disappointment.
In the CAF Confederations Cup, Kwara United came from a goal down to win 3-1 against Berkane at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos to be in a comfortable position for next week’s return leg.
