The popular Maracana Stadium in Tolu Complex, Ajegunle, Lagos has received a massive facelift and proper infrastructure by entrepreneur and businessman Mr Yemi Idowu.
Mr Yemi Idowu transformed the playing surface building ten 5-Aside pitches, eight 7-Aside pitches and one 11-Aside football pitch which was unveiled yesterday, 7th May, 2022.
First Vice-president of the NFF, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi at the opening ceremony spoke to Sports247, lauding the effort and hinted at more of this development coming.
“Indeed it is a fantastic initiative. The sheer number of children playing football on various pitches simultaneously was a delight to witness,” he said.
“This project epitomizes the concept of ‘The Business of Football’ and how crucial infrastructure is in football development. This is truly evidence of the importance of the private sector in grassroots football development. There are a few more of this coming up in Lagos soon,” he concluded.
