Ndidi Scores in Leicester’s 4-0 Carabao Cup Win Over Tranmere

Leicester City’s Wilfried Ndidi opened his goal-scoring account for the season in style during a resounding 4-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

The match, held at the King Power Stadium, saw the Super Eagles midfielder find the back of the net for the first time this campaign, marking a memorable moment as he donned his new number 6 jersey.

The Foxes dominated the encounter from the outset, but it was Ghanaian international Jordan Ayew who broke the deadlock just before halftime with a superb strike, assisted by Harry Winks. The goal set the tone for a comfortable night for the Premier League side.

Shortly after the interval, Leicester doubled their lead in the 51st minute. Stephy Mavididi calmly converted a penalty after Ricardo Pereira was brought down in the box, a move that originated from a brilliant combination between Ndidi and Oliver Skipp.

Ndidi’s moment came in the 71st minute when he capped off an impressive performance with a well-taken goal. After a slick exchange of passes with Winks and Ayew, the Nigerian midfielder calmly slotted the ball past the Tranmere goalkeeper, putting the game beyond doubt. His goal was a fitting reward for his tireless display in midfield, adding an attacking edge to his already solid defensive contributions.

Immediately after his goal, Ndidi was substituted, with Steve Cooper bringing on young English talent Will Alves to see out the remaining minutes.

At 27, Ndidi has started all of Leicester City’s games this season, showcasing his importance to the team. As the Foxes aim to secure their position in the Premier League, Ndidi’s role will be crucial, and his goal-scoring form will be a welcome boost for manager Steve Cooper.
