Leicester City stars, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi are set to be handled by the man who caused a downturn of fortunes for fellow-Nigerian, Efe Ambrose at Celtic of Scotland, as the duo’s club have appointed Brendan Rodgers to take over the saddle.
In the wake of The Foxes’ sacking of Claude Puel last weekend, sports247.ng gathered that the new man in charge of technical matters at King Power Stadium is the former Liverpool gaffer, who never saw anything good in Ambrose.
It is now left to be seen how Iheanacho and Ndidi will come under the new man in charge, as Rodgers is set to become Leicester’s manager after he was given permission by Celtic to speak to the former EPL champions.
Rodgers arrived in Leicester after telling the Celtic board on Monday of his desire to leave, with Chris Davies and Kolo Toure, who are currently part of his staff at Celtic Park, expected to join him once a deal is agreed.
Celtic released a statement on Tuesday stating: “Celtic today confirmed that it has been approached by Leicester to speak to Brendan Rodgers with regards to their current managerial vacancy.
“Brendan has indicated to the club that this is an opportunity he wishes to investigate further and therefore, very reluctantly, the club has granted him permission to speak to Leicester.”
