It was a moment of excitement as Emmanuel Sunday Essien, a native of Utu Edem Usung of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and player of Dynamo Academy, who was voted the most talented and youngest player at the NDDC U-17 Peace Cup was awarded scholarship for his secondary and tertiary education.
The Sole Administrator of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Barrister Efiong Akwa made the pronouncement on Sunday at the conclusion of the tournament.
“The most talented and the youngest player of the tournament, these one will have the CEO’s scholarship award given to him to encourage his education.
“The organisers of this tournament must ensure the scholarship come to reality because we don’t want it to be turned upside down. The amount that is meant for his scholarships will be collected next week and placed in a trust account for his education.
“Congratulations and God bless you. You have a scholarship to further your education up to university level.”
Born 25th December, 2007, Emmanuel Sunday Essien is an SS1 student at State College Secondary School, Ikot Ekpene.
Essien shone brightly at the tournament and helped his team Dynamo Academy to the quarter final where they played with nine men and eventually lost 3-2 to winners, KIFA Academy.
