Tech Vibes of Jos have emerged winners of the 2018 NCC Tennis League semi-finals in Enugu.
Tech Vibes beat Leadway Team from Lagos 4-1 in the overall results and will now meet winners of the Abuja semi finals, Team Offikwu in Lagos on Sunday.
In the men category, Thomas Otu of Tech vibe succumbed 6-3, 6-4 to Abdulmumuni Babalola of Leadway.
Current No.1, Joseph Imeh of Tech Vibes played against Abayomi Philips from Leadway, and won 6-4, 6-4.
In the women category, Ayegbusi Aanu from Ondo state of Tech Vibes Team of Jos, beat Sarah Adegoke fom Oyo State of Team Leadway from Lagos with 6-4, 6-4.
In the men’s doubles, Leadway’s Babalola Abdulmumini and Herbert Bilkom lost to Tech Vibe’s Joseph Imeh and Thomas Otu 6-2, 7-6.
The overall result in Enugu was 4-1 in favour of Tech Vibes and, in Abuja, Team Offikwu defeated Team Goshen 5-2.
The tournament had International Tennis Academy, Godwin Kienka as coordinator.
Guest appearances were made by the chairman of Enugu State Tennis Associatio, Professor Agu Gab Agu, a member of Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) representing South East; and the chairman of Enugu Sports club, Mr. Ben Etiaba.
Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) is sponsoring the tennis tournament, from which the 12 participating teams will get cash reward of N500, 000 for particpation.
Other star prizes of N7m, N5m, N4m and N3m will go to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions respectively.
